For software owners and engineering teams

Application Security & Remediation

Understand meaningful application risk and turn findings into work engineers can act on.

Discuss an application review

Quoted to scope. Deliverables, schedule and fees are agreed before work begins.

Who it is for

Companies building or owning applications, APIs and integrations

What we can deliver

  1. Scope and threat modeling for an agreed application or integration.
  2. Review of relevant code, access controls, dependencies, secrets or data flows.
  3. Prioritized findings with evidence and practical remediation guidance.
  4. Validation of agreed fixes and a handoff to the engineering owner.

The final scope, access requirements, schedule and included handoff are agreed for your engagement.

01 / Fit

When this is a useful next step

  • Your organization owns or builds an application, API or integration and can authorize review.
  • Engineers need findings that explain affected behavior and a workable remediation path.
  • You want a focused review of a change, risk area or remediation backlog.

02 / Delivery

How the work unfolds

  1. Set the review boundary

Identify the application, important data flows, user roles and engineering owner. Agree on source access, environments and the questions the assessment should answer.

  2. Review relevant attack paths

Examine the agreed code, configuration, dependencies, secrets handling or authorization logic. Connect potential issues to the application's actual behavior and trust boundaries.

  3. Prioritize actionable findings

Document evidence, affected components, likely impact and practical fix options. Separate confirmed findings from questions or observations that need more evidence.

  4. Support and validate remediation

Walk findings through with engineers and, where included, review the agreed fixes. Record what was validated and what remains open.

We agree on the scope, responsibilities, schedule and completion criteria before starting. These steps are adapted to that agreement.

03 / Handoff

What you can put to use

  • Scope and threat model

The reviewed components, roles, sensitive flows and relevant attack scenarios.

  • Engineering-ready findings

Evidence, reproduction or verification steps where appropriate, prioritization rationale and remediation guidance.

  • Remediation handoff

A findings walkthrough, ownership recommendations and results of any included fix validation.

Your proposal identifies the included outputs, their format and the review or handoff session. Further implementation or support is agreed separately.

04 / Preparation

What we need from you

  • Identify the application owner and someone who can explain architecture and expected behavior.
  • Provide authorized repository, documentation and test-environment access appropriate to the scope.
  • Share the release context, prior findings and any constraints on testing or handling source code.

Scope boundaries

Coverage is limited to the agreed components and review methods. Active penetration testing, production testing and broad compliance attestation require separate scope. A review is a point-in-time assessment; the report states access and coverage limitations.

05 / Illustrative scope

What an engagement could look like

This is a planning example, not a client result or a promise of outcomes.

  • Starting situation

An internal AI application can retrieve customer records and draft responses.

  • Agreed work

Review authorization and data flow between the user, application, AI tool and record system, then review agreed access-control changes.

  • Useful handoff

A threat model, evidence-backed findings and a record of fix validation. This is an illustrative assessment.

06 / Questions

Before you inquire

Do we need to own the source code?

You must be able to authorize the access being requested. For vendor-owned software, we can discuss configuration or integration review within your rights rather than assume source access.

Can this help with an existing backlog?

Yes. A scope can focus on validating, prioritizing and guiding remediation of existing findings, with the relevant application owners involved.
